Is it just me, or was there a lot of chatter about manifestation this year?
It seemed like a new manifestation guru popped up on my timeline and #fyp everyday, and became the topic of quite a few coffee chats among my friends.
Visualizations, journal prompts, affirmations, mirror work– it’s all very potent in shifting your mind to what’s possible, and certainly helps in focusing on what you’re really after. Pivot With Purpose even starts off with a powerful guided visualization and thought exercise.
Most mainstream manifestation practices are a helpful first step in your career change or job search in that they encourage you to get as specific as possible about what you really desire:
Taste the coffee you’ll sip on your first day, feel yourself sitting at your new desk, hear the recruiter’s voice through your phone offering you the job. Heck, pre-write the LinkedIn post you’ll share to announce your new role (no shade, I love reading those)!
But here’s the thing you already know: your new job doesn’t live on your vision board.
Your new job exists out here in real time.
Manifestation tools are lovely and worth a shot if you’re into them, but those tools alone will not deliver your dream job.
What will?
Strategic networking, for the long-haul.
Fostering your personal brand as the go-to person in your function.
Telling people what you’re looking for.
Proposing a new role to your boss.
Action. Doing. A little audacity.
What are you manifesting for the new year, and what is the first thing you can do to take action on that vision?
Have a happy, safe, peaceful end of the year- and cheers to more connection and growth and 2022!
Love, Janel

🎉 CELEBRATIONS
When Maddie went through Pivot With Purpose this spring, she realized she wanted to stay at her company and explore an internal move into a role that is more aligned to her long-term goals. She recently applied to an internal fellowship- and got it! From Maddie:
I’m interviewing for a fellowship at my company, and when talking about my goals for career growth I started talking about how I am passionate about bringing people together through informal (or formal) groups to provide support, coaching and resources to people. The woman interviewing me stopped me and said “it sounds like you’re describing your personal mission” and I said yes, that’s exactly right.
I’ve noticed a big shift in my confidence and communication regarding my interests since PWP - I think it’s really coming through in my conversations and I’m hoping that takes me to the next step of where I want to be!
